Two thousand and sixteen; a year that seems to have come and gone rather suddenly.. The year that so many will remember because of the greats that have left this earth, because of the sadness of wars overseas, brexit and so on.. These things remind me every day of how bloody lucky I am to be as happy as I am and have a job I simply adore.
I’ve entitled this a ‘best of’ post, but that seems a little scary – it’s all too subjective! I don’t think I’d even know where to start if I really had to choose my ‘best’ photographs of the last 12 months… can we call this a glance at 2016, instead?
Professionally, 2016 has been an year I feel so blessed to have had. Another year packed with amazing weddings, incredible families (
although I’m a little guilty of slacking on sharing my family work from the past few months, so this post is dedicated to my wedding work for now), meeting the most beautiful souls – both clients and fellow suppliers and creatives.. I’ve been lucky enough to continue to shoot wedding after wedding in my beloved Suffolk and Norfolk, as well as up north and all around the capital city. With destination weddings abroad on the cards too earlier this year, I was a little gutted to have to pass them on to fellow photographers when I excitedly learnt I was pregnant with our first child. In my personal life, 2016 has meant the growth of our family with the birth of our daughter Astrid which has been nothing but a wonderful whirlwind. She’s awesome. It’s also meant a big upheaval with a house move, renovation of the entire house from granny state to pretty comfortable (one room to go and counting) – picture me eight and a 1/2 months pregnant waddling in painting overalls.. – it was all worth it and I’m so proud of how quickly we turned a shell of a house in to a home.
So, seeing as Astrid and I will probably be tucked up asleep in bed whilst Rich is gigging when the new year rolls in, here’s to 2017. I’m hoping for another year of growth, love and discovery – how about you?
Thank you to my clients of 2016 and to my 2017 clan; I’m so damn excited to make memories with you.
