Need inspiration for relaxed, DIY filled Suffolk Barn wedding photography? Lesley and Rob were married at Elms Barn and they did so much themselves so look no further. I felt like a very lucky lady getting to be their wedding photographer. Imperfect moments are what makes the story and I love relaxed couples that embrace this. These guys really did and I think that’s what made their day even more special and so enjoyable to be a part of.
Lesley went through 3 wedding dresses before deciding to stick with the one she wore. She found it on eBay – another bride that highlights that you don’t have to spend mega bucks to look absolutely incredible. The boys wore relaxed shirts with tweed waistcoats – perfectly planned for the weather as it was probably the hottest day I’ve ever photographed a wedding on!
The button holes and bouquets were all dried flowers. If I could get married again I’d choose dried flowers after seeing Lesley & Rob’s bright, pastel hued ones; just so I could keep them always. I did an awful job of trying to dry my bouquet after our wedding and it just ended up going mouldy…whoops. Confetti.co.uk has a helpful how-to post here if you want to dry yours more successfully than me!
These guys did so much themselves, collecting bottles and jars for months and months before hand – you might remember me talking about it when I first met them for their couples shoot in Norwich here.
The thing I love about barn weddings is that each one is so, so different. You’d think one barn is the same as all others, but because they’re so rustic, in reality they can be completely different. Elms Barn actually took my breath away when I snuck in to take photos of the ceremony room before the guests came in. The tiny windows adorned with flowers and candles made the room so intimate and cosy, when the ceremony was actually happening it was all so warm and personal despite the lofty ceilings. I’ve had bookings for Elms Barn for 2017 and 2018, aah I can’t wait to get back to that beautiful place…
