OAK LODGE THETFORD FOREST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

If a wedding with an intimate, family vibe, sunflowers galore and an outdoor woodland reception sounds like your idea of bliss, you’ll love Rosie and Michael’s Oak Lodge Thetford Forest wedding. A delicious barbeque feast with an elopement-worthy vista under a hazy, canopy of pines in the heart of Thetford Forest, Norfolk.

Rosie and Michael had a totally relaxed, woodland wedding in the centre of Thetford Forest at Oak Lodge. It was so beautifully styled with sunflowers everywhere (my favourite!) and had a really intimate wedding party of their absolute nearest and dearest. If you’re considering having a really intimate outdoorsy wedding, take inspiration from here! These guys put a heavy focus on chilling out with their immediate family and closest friends before packing up around 5pm and heading off for a family meal and celebratory drinks.

Getting ready

Rosie got ready at Forest Holidays Thorpe Forest, Shadwell. Rosie’s beautiful wedding dress was from eBay and incredibly including all the alterations came to a total of £145. Goes to show that you don’t need to spend an absolute fortune on your dream dress! Rosie loves the 60s and 70s eras and knew she wanted a true vintage dress. She spotted it after weeks of searching and bagged it for £25, then designed a few alterations that Simply Handmade made a reality.

Michael wore a green, tweed style suit which he knew he wanted from the get-go. Luckily they found the perfect one without the tweed pricetag at Suits Direct, Freeport Braintree!

The Wedding Ceremony at Oak Lodge, Thetford Forest

Michael and Rosie had a really intimate wedding ceremony at Oak Lodge in Thetford Forest with just their immediate families and a few friends present. Rosie walked down the aisle to Perpetuum Mobile by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra – it was really hard for them to choose as they have a really varied taste in music. While signing the register they had Mumford & Sons playing as it was the soundtrack to the early days of their relationship. Their exit music was Simply the Best after it accidentally became “their song” after loving it in the background of a Netflix show they were watching.

The Wedding Reception in the heart of Thetford Forest

Rosie made all of the invites and anything printed so that they could have a personal touch. They decided to have fake flowers for decorations as they would stand the test of time and they look just as good! Their other focus while wedding planning was on the display of their parents and their parents wedding photographs on a lovely willow heart display. They also had a polaroid guestbook – they really wanted people to have the option to be creative & snap a polaroid all in one.

There was an earthy, multicoloured theme to their wedding decor. Woodland greens, wild meadow flowers plus sunflowers and daisies. They used simple milk bottles with handmade labels and jute string tied around for table centrepieces.

To match their relaxed ceremony, afterwards there was confetti throwing, some time for group and couples photos plus a whole load of fun and laughter as everyone chilled out on the picnic benches. Food was a barbecue buffet – they wanted a relaxed menu to give people the freedom to eat what they wanted so this was perfect!

Around 5pm they called it a day at Oak Lodge and packed down before heading off in their sunflower adorned Land Rover. Their family and friends soon followed and they all headed off for a relaxed dinner and celebratory drinks galore at the Elvedon Inn.
