VILLAGE HALL SAXMUNDHAM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – Katie & Matt

RELAXED SAXMUNDHAM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Katie and Matts wedding was refreshing. This wedding was all about family and their closest friends. Just about the two of them getting married. After a church ceremony, their reception was in a village hall decorated with miles of bunting painstakingly made by Katie and her family, with an awesome khaki tent (aka the party tent) borrowed from a scouts group in the garden. The bridesmaids dresses were made by hand by their brother in laws family in Ghana and family made deserts for after the wedding breakfast. It all came back to the things that really matter most – people coming together.

For their Saxmundham (Suffolk) wedding, they wanted relaxed and creative photography. It was so much fun with these guys and their family and friends. Everyone was so up for a laugh and did anything I asked, always with a big grin on their faces; including getting the entire wedding group to strike their favourite dance move – the grandparents won this one with their poses…

In rural suffolk – so rural that on the way their I got stuck behind some sheep being herded across the road – Katie and her bridesmaids were getting ready at Katie’s parents home, including Katie and Matts beatiful daughter Rosalie. I left the house moments before them all to watch her arrive and to capture Matt and his best friends looking nervous, dotted around the church. The ceremony was beautiful with a wonderful heartfelt tribute of a candle left for Katies younger sister who sadly is no longer with us so she was part of the ceremony too. Confetti was thrown during one of the longest confetti lines I’ve ever shot, and then Matts dad added a load more down his back for good measure. The village hall reception had a theme of Lord of the Rings, including the party tree. Wild flowers dotted around the tables as guests took their seats for dinner and the homemade deserts. Family shots happened next followed by couples portraits, with the three of us strolling through a field to a bridge that I’d eyed up on the way in thinking we couldn’t get to, but by perfect act of fate Matt & Katie knew exactly how to reach it! Meanwhile indoors, parents were clearing the room for their first dance. I’ll stop here and leave the photos to themselves. Thank you both for the best day. x
