Hannah & Alex’s Crafty Wedding

If a wedding with a plenty of crafty, DIY touches, beautiful rustic surroundings, an outdoor ceremony and an ice-cream truck is right up your street, you’ll absolutely adore Hannah & Alex’s day. Relaxed, candid wedding photography, family and friends centred fun and gorgeous retro styling.

Hannah and Alex had a really cool, relaxed DIY filled wedding at The Keeper and The Dell, Norfolk. Nearly all of the day was DIY – from the bouquets of dried flowers made months prior, to the cakes made the night before. It made for a hugely personal, family and friends filled wedding day and as they put it themselves, a long expected party. From the moment they had enquired about booking me as their photographer, I knew I was gonna have an absolute blast with these two at this incredible venue.

Getting ready

So Hannah got ready at a gorgeous converted Victorian school in Ringland a couple of minutes walk from the venue. Of all the weddings I’ve photographed here, this is the first time bridal prep had been in Ringland itself – this place seems such an obvious choice now I’ve been!

The morning was spent with Hannah and her bridesmaids all doing each others hair and make-up,  getting baby Lyra to sleep and having a good laugh over prosecco. Hannahs dress, Alex’s suit and all the bridesmaids and groomsmen outfits were ALL from the highstreet. You’d absolutely never know right?! One of my favourite parts of Hannahs outfit was her sparkly gold, scrappy heels. She said she’d worn them to a friends wedding and were super comfortable so why the heck not!

The Outdoor Ceremony

The ceremony was held in the Dell with all of their guests sat on the grassy terraces. There was a reading from The Amber Spyglass which I adored, plus Alex’s two sisters sang accompanied by Hannahs brother on guitar – such beautiful voices! A first kiss and some cheers from loved ones later and it was up on to the terrace for drinks and games.

We took a handful of family group photos before running off to the birch garden for some less formal shots with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. A few shouting of swear words and some other rowdy hilarity later, the guys and girls went off for more drinks while we took ten minutes for their couples portraits.

The Rustic Wedding Reception

To lead Hannah & Alex into their wedding breakfast we set up a huuuuuuge confetti line from the terrace to the entrance of the marquee. It was so much fun and I am totally in love with those shots. The Wedding meal was an array of incredibly delicious help-yourself style sharing platters by The Norfolk Deli. It was so yummy and the staff were really fab and attentive. I had a complete ball sat with the guests getting to know them all.

After the meal were some bloody hilarious speeches, followed by everyone heading back up to the terrace for tea and strawberries round the firepit, plus the most delicious addition of ice-cream from Ronaldos ice-cream truck. Yum.

The Party

The party really got going around 8.30pm when their band started playing their first dance – I bet you look good on the dance floor by The Artic Monkeys. It was non-stop dancing until I left a little while after, just as the pizza oven was warming up. Ahhhh what a day.
