A PRETTY, DIY WOOD FARM BARN WEDDING
Wood Farm Barn Suffolk Wedding Photography
Cath & Dion had a relaxed, mismatched, pretty vintage wedding at Wood Farm Barn Suffolk (in Benacre, to be exact!). For their Wedding Photography, they were after candid, reportage shots which is where I came along! I mean it genuinely when I say these two & their family were one of the most welcoming bunch I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. The entire day whizzed past as I was enjoying myself so much.
Their Wedding Day DIY
In the middle of nowhere in Suffolk lies Wood Farm Barn. The chilly February wind surrounded us but there was a beautiful hazy blue sky overhead to counteract it – a wedding photographers ideal. These two had poured their heart and soul in to this day, everything was handmade by themselves or family. The pair planned so far in advance, waiting for the arrival of their beautiful baby daughter Edith (who looked adorable). There was a homemade afternoon tea for their wedding breakfast, lovingly served by the ladies from their favourite cafe. It was followed by a delicious evening buffet, sweet table and four (yes four!) wedding cakes.
The Ceremony at Wood Farm Barn Suffolk
Cath’s dad sadly passed away some years ago, so it was really special watching her mum walk her up the short aisle at Wood Farm Barn. Her mum looked equal parts excited and so nervous! My attention was soon grabbed by just how much Cath was beaming at Dion though – see below! As I took candids throughout the wedding ceremony, I spied so many giant grins. If I’m honest, there were a fair few tears in the eyes of their guests too… Many of whom had joked with me earlier on that they wouldn’t cry, ha!
My favourite parts of their reception
Some of my favourite parts of the day were the Cath & Dion quiz that got everyone in competitive teams and heckling each other. When I found out that their cake toppers were frogs because Dion thinks Cath looks like a grumpy frog. The moment when the grooms speech was interrupted by the barn being stormed by a group of superheroes (aka the kids & Dions brothers). They were dressed head to toe in fancy dress bits from their homemade photobooth of course – it was hilarious. When Cath was all up for being brave in minus degrees and taking her cardigan off whilst we ran across fields for their couples portraits – it was so worth it! I adore Wood Farm Barn for it’s surroundings – the typical Suffolk rolling fields are just gorgeous.
Cath & Dion, the biggest thank you for having me as your wedding photographer, it was a complete pleasure. x
