A COLOURFUL, FESTIVAL WEDDING AT GODWICK HALL & GREAT BARN IN NORFOLK

Helen & Maff’s wedding has already been one of the highlights of my 2017 wedding season. You might recognise Helen and Maff from their respective Youtube channels. They’re both completely awesome and I was super flattered that they chose me to photograph their big day. Their super fun, bright personalities set the precedent for their relaxed, colourful, festival wedding at Godwick great barn… there was even a Ferris Wheel for goodness sake! Helen had been telling me in the months leading up about all the DIY elements and things she had in store for their wedding, but my gosh, nothing quite prepared me for how dreamy it all was.

I first met Helen years ago on a really fun photoshoot in London when I used to dabble in blogging too. We’d since stayed in touch and when I sacked off blogging to do photography instead, her and Maff booked in for a couples shoot and then later an engagement shoot after he had popped the question. Helen and Maff are such a bloody lovely people that I felt like I was going to see old friends and not a single part of the day felt like work.

Bridal Prep

Helens incredible dress was from Pure, custom veil by Crown & Glory, suits from Slaters, hair by Flamingo Amy, make-up by Ashleigh Bunce and flowers were by Swaffham Florist.

When I left bridal prep to wander up from Godwick Hall to wait for Helen and her gang of bridesmaids to arrive on the back of a tractor, straight away I could see where all the hours of planning and decorating the day before had gone. Helen and co had spent hours on the Friday making Godwick look as she had envisioned, using props hired from The Little Lending Co.

The Outdoor Ceremony at Godwick Barn

The ceremony was outdoors with guests sat on hay bails and the ferris wheel waiting to be ridden in the background. Maff told me he wasn’t feeling nervous at all, just that he couldn’t wait any longer to see Helen. Ahhhhhh. They laughed throughout the ceremony and after the legal bit indoors, they got pelted with confetti before it was time for drinks, rosemary popcorn and their family group shots. Just ahead of their delicious wedding breakfast (the food all day and the evening Burrito bar were by 67 London Street and tasted SO good), I stole them away for some chilled out couples portraits by the ruin.

My Photography Highlights

I could talk about this wedding forever, but I ought to probably let the photos do the talking… So, to list other awesome things that made my work as a photographer super easy: Helen sang a romantic speech with her band whipping out guitars and a xylophone from where they were sat as a surprise to Maff, there was a glitter bar by Love Moi makeup in the evening, a completely scrummy burrito bar, Christophes crepes were there fulfilling everyones sweet tooth, a sparkler exit, photo boothall the rides on the ferris wheel – I even got to have a go as I fancied doing some couples portraits with them high in the sky… Thanks to the team at Godwick Hall and to Helen & Maff for having me as part of the party. x
