Nicola & Ben and their wild, romantic, outdoor wedding at The Keeper and The Dell.
If you adore simple rustic styling, food truck wedding breakfasts, wildflowers, documentary photography and a whole load of vintage charm, you’ll love this wedding in the great outdoors!
Nicola and Ben got married at the delight that is The Keeper and The Dell in Norwich, Norfolk. It was such a wildly fun day and I adored these two from the get go. The first thing Nicola said to me in the morning was that if her dress wasn’t ruined by the end of the night, she’d be disappointed. Now that’s my sort of bride!
Nicola got ready at Haugh Farm, a short drive from TK&TD. She got ready with her bridesmaids – Kat and Anna, with her mum and dad popping in for time to time. Haugh Farm is giant, so there were lots of family staying there too – there was an excited buzz about the place!
Wedding dress envy is owed to the brand Rembo Styling and bridesmaid dressed were ASOS. They all did their own hair and make-up in between putting on awesome playlists and dancing around. Flowers were dried flower bouquets and of course Nicolas flower crown too.
Ben wore a suit from Donegal Tweed, bought from Magee’s in Donegal, Ireland. The bloody gorgeous story behind this is that Nicolas grandfather used to work there as a weaver! Touches like that are the best, don’t you think?!
The ceremony took place in the dell with their guests (from all corners of the globe!) sat on the grassy terrace area. Nicola and Ben read their vows with the white, vintage cloth marquee behind them. There were excitable hand squeezes, nervous laughs and a first kiss like no other with their tribe all cheering and grinning down at them.
After the ceremony, the couple grabbed a glass of fizz and mingled with their guests giving me time to grab some candid shots. There were only a three or four group photos to get through as Nicola and Ben wanted me to concentrate on more documentary coverage of their day and I was only too happy to oblige! Before the wedding party got their hands on the delicious food, I led the pair up in to the birch garden and the lane outside for some relaxed couples portraits and a bit of time for themselves.
The wedding reception was the ultimate relaxed, outdoors type with food trucks! There was the choice of incredible paella or delicious pizzas – or both of course! There was no formal top table; just a buffet-style, help yourself from the food truck when you’re ready vibe with no seating plan. Some guests sat around the fire pits and others congregated in the marquee surrounded by the wildflowers on the tables.
After everyone had eaten, everyone gathered round the fire pit while the speeches were said. The only light was from the fire and it was pretty magical to watch and the words spoken were totally heartfelt.
Reception formalities over, the first dance was down in the dell and light by the fairy lights from the devotion den. Everyone joined in and eventually the party moved its way up the hill and stayed outside the barn – gin fuelled dancing galore next to the hay bales and toasting marshmallows over the fire… awesome.
